Don't know how they'll get around the fact that you see venom exploding into skeletal bits at the end of three.. It would be easier for the sequels to ignore Venom from now on, let what's-his-name from the Venom comics take over the symbiote in the spinoff, and leave it be at that. And as much as I love Carnage - one of his big aspects in the comic was that he was just an irredeemable bastard, who was undeniably (and proudly) flat. A marked difference from the comic's Venom, who has a more comflicted, grey persona, and who changes over time. But the films painted Venom as just a flat bad dude, with nothing grey about him. Frankly, Carnage in the films would just be Venom but red, and slimier. *shrug* They could always do the 'truth of Peter's parents' storyline that featured the Red Skull. That was pretty epic..even though it's kind of out dated now. Or they could bring back the Kingpin from that godawful Daredevil film (since he was the one and only good casting choice in that whole movie) and do a Sinister Six story. That would be pretty cool too..
