Turns out I'm not the only one who thinks Speed Racer is subject to similar misunderstandings that dogged Blade Runner's box office and critical reception. Prolific American writer, Peter David, had this to say about it: "Speed Racer" is ahead of the pack, and no one has realized it yet. "Speed Racer" may crash, but like a first rate car, it's going to be cannibalized for its parts.

And I'd like to reiterate once again - while critical opinion may be against Speed Racer, the audience consensus of the film is very positive. If you liked Speed Racer, don't let the loony rantings of Bourne and his chums get to you. Speed Racer fans are in the majority!
