Some very agreeable choices on here. Also some more that haven't been mentioned: E.T.
2001
Scarface (I agree with "it's fucking awful")
Gone with the Wind
The Wizard of Oz
Pulp Fiction
Boondock Saints (if it's considered a "classic" yet)
Saving Private Ryan
Raging Bull oh yeah, and CRASH. Big time. Quote: Originally Posted by spacemonkey know, I used to be a 2001 hater. I used to think the movie was as many people say "boring". Quote: People who say its a boring film I feel arent really giving it a chance. You have me completely wrong there, buddy. I've seen 2001 about ten times. I watched it once a year for 5 years straight, seen it 2 time before THAT, and watched it once every couple years after that stint. So, in 1984, 1986, 1991,92,93,94,95, 1998, 2001 (haha!) and 2005, I came to the same conclusion:
I do not like this movie. Don't throw the "you don't understand it" card my way, either. After my fifth or sixth viewing, I sat down with friends who loved it, chatted it and discussed it extensively. In 1997, I took a film class where this movie was beat to death over a two day discussion.
I have looked at tons of articles, threads, trivia about 2001.
I actually came to the same conclusions as most other people on my own pertaining to what this movie was about. I still hate it. So don't say that you need to "grow up" and learn to respect this "film". Don't say that I haven't given it a chance.
Some people - sometimes - just don't like a movie that is widely acclaimed. It's not always because they "don't understand it". That's pretty insulting, thankyouverymuch.
There are some movies I love, and I don't understand them all that much (see: David Lynch rofl). I am willing to admit when something goes over my head, but it doesn't always detract from my viewing enjoyment. |
