In fact, I find a character-based drama just as fufilling as any Hollywood summer popcorn flick (Glenn Gary Glenross anyone?). But my problem with There Will Be Blood was just as Daniel Day Lewis's character began to get interesting, and just as the story started to go...somewhere...it would hit a brick wall, and we'd be back at square one again. I found myself getting annoyed after 15 minutes, and about halfway through it, I just couldn't pay attention anymore. I know once I start playing games on my cell phone, it's over. I got up and turned off the DVD player and haven't thought much about seeing it since. |
