No, it was definitely Norton. Anyways, I really like this movie. It always brings up very important discussions whenever I watch it. The one heated debate I truly always get into though, is how people say some of the points Derek made as a neo-nazi made sense, which I couldn't agree with at all. Derek was under the brainwash of a new form of dictator, one who doesn't go straight to the top, but infects the minds of the youth with his propaganda at a young age. It's important for me to note that this was not Derek the entire time he was like this, he was more so just a kid who sounds like he was quoting passages from some sort of racist bible. The transformation was a lot to behold, cause it was as if Derek was waking up, finding his real mind. He had no problems with black people, and as he spent time with Lamont he realized this. It's not a race that disgraces a nation, it's the people who choose to walk blindly through the hills. To let themselves be led. Because these are the most dangerous kinds of people, easily influenced by that which is not right, but appears to be a solution. I think when Danny said "he hates the fact that it's cool to be black" it really reflects himself, cause he pretty much idolized his brother, and I think that's pretty much the determining factor of his joining. Cause of his brother's influence. He saw him as cool. It was cool to be a neo-nazi to him. |
