In the eloquent words of Kumar in Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay: "Because this is America, dude, and as long as I have my freedom of speech no one's going to shut me up" i'm not as dismissive of luv2run's thought, spacemonkey. while i wish it were true, i doubt those churches would behave the way you predict. think of harry potter and some of the silly controversy some groups made over that. now, put an actor or actress in a god-role in a film that large groups don't agree is fitting to their god or behaving in such a way that they feel their god would never behave and you have a spark ready to explode. i don't necessarily think there would be violence, or anything, but there would be boycotts and loud segments on fox news so fast your head would spin. faith is entirely and completely subjective. organized religion is controlling and 'hive-like'. hollywood knows this so we have scared filmmakers who in the end only want to make $$ and won't risk it if their wallets are threatened. try to tell the catholic or baptist church that god doesn't belong to them. i think they will strongly disagree... |
