I agree that the temple of doom scenes were also over the top, but the waterfall scene takes the cake for me. Also, the reasons you mention are some of the reasons why I hate temple of doom. So, you are correct in that regard. There were similar scenes in Temple of Doom, when the water is following Indy and Short Round and Willy through the tunnels, the water starts destroying the rocks and Indy and everyone else is hanging from a very thin ledge, and EVERYONE survived, these movies have always been like this. Indy will always survive not matter if it was fifty waterfalls, or a thousand nazis or a million snakes. A lot of people dont like Doom because its so over the top, but others love it exactly for that reason. It seems a lot of people were expecting another Raiders of the lost Ark, and what they got was another Temple of Doom. Also, these movies are a homage to the cliffhangers from the 50s, they are purposely trying to copy the style of those over the top adventure movies from that era, so its a style and a feeling that they are trying to evoke. |
