Topic: What's with all the PG ratings? Forum: JoBlo
It's all about the cash. PG-13 films usually make more money than films rated R. I have nothing against the ratings. IMO, I don't think kids should see R-rated films until they mature enough to handle it (usually around 10 and up). The trick is trying to work with the rating and not against it. Just because a movie is PG-13 and not R doesn't mean it has to be a terrible movie. Live Free or Die Hard is a good example. It's a great movie, and the PG-13 rating doesn't damage it. An example of a movie that really could use the R-rating is Accepted. So much potential wasted by trying to keep it tame. It was OK, but if had the R-rating it could have been so much more. Just some thoughts.
