I don't know what the big mystery is. No Country for Old Men came in second. Without even knowing the numbers, I'd say if there was no There Will Be Blood, that No Country would have won. There Will Be Blood is #23 on the IMDb, which I think is a better representation of fanboys than box office receipts. The reason There Will Be Blood didn't get more votes and end up in 2nd is because a lot less people have seen it around here. This movie is like the Holy Grail of Finishing Off Watching The Oscar Movies for me and a helluva load of schmoes around here. There Will Be Blood and No Country are widely accepted as the two greatest films not only of this year, but of this century (heh - nice only being 8 years in isn't it, guys... You get to say outlandish things like that!!!) The problem is, as someone else pointed out, there is a split on which one is better. What I've noticed, is that everyone who loves No Country say it's the best film, but the people who love No Country and have seen There Will Be Blood, also love There Will Be Blood. I know they are probably out there, but I've yet to see the person who says, "There Will BE Blood and 300 were the best movies of the year, but No Country for Old Men really sucked ass!" I respectfully disagree with Joblo, though, and feel his Golden Schmoes bare much resemblance to the Oscars. My reasoning will be in the new threads that pop up after Sunday night. Joblo: Remember The Life Aquatic for Old Men. Oh, and Sammy Jenkins.
