We're the only fuckin' site on the ENTIRE INTERNET (or at least, among the top movie fansites) to offer this opportunity to its readers to VOTE for the nominations and then choose the winners, and without fail...EVERY YEAR, I have to get into the GOLDEN SCHMOES thread and "defend" the awards and some of its winners (a lot of times the people complaining DON'T EVEN VOTE, in fact). Again, I don't mind folks complaining about things they DISAGREE WITH, for fuck's sakes...that's why I started this website back in 1998 (because all the "critics" were killing ARMAGEDDON, while everyone I knew was "having a blast" watching that movie), but how about just a LITTLE RESPECT for the awards themselves, the voters who actually DID vote for all those picks (we're not making the winners up, folks...PEOPLE WHO VOTED chose the winners) or at the very least -- as I say every year -- how about offering both NEGATIVE and POSITIVE feedback, so that all the HARD WORK that we put into running it every year, feels like it might be appreciated and worth it. After weeks and weeks of compiling, voting, sending out newsletters, putting up ads, getting plugs for the awards, creating buttons, allowing everyone to take part, working with our programmers to make sure everything is legit, sending out emails...all I see every year is a handful of old-timers bitching about how their FAVES didn't win and how the GOLDEN SCHMOES suck. |
