We are living in the year 2008, and it shows. Whether you think that the CGI is completely overdone, out of place, or there are just too many primary colors assaulting your senses, it fits the context of the film perfectly. They created a world that, at least for me, helped you believe in the absurdity of the plot. I spend half of the film completey in awe over the magical lucidity of the visuals, and the other half I was in awe over how awesome John Goodman still is. 12 year olds, dude. IGN gave the film a 4.5 out of 5, and I'm sure there will be a lot of you here that will disagree with the review, but they do make a lot of valid points, and I agree with most of them. I would have given the film a 4 however, because it was a tad too long, and a good chunk of the dialogue could have been disposed of in favor of some more high intensity racing scenes, as some others here have said. http://movies.ign.com/articles/870/870907p1.html Another thing I noticed was there was a werid sort of familiarity to the middle race, and then it hit me. This is the podrace from Episode One, but more badass, and more refined. Lucas created the backround technology used for the film so the comparision is not too out of place. In conclusion, movies are based entirely on the eyes, and mind of the viewer. No matter how bad, or good a film is the perception of those who watch it can change the film into a differnet experience all together. The Wachowski brother's are back for better or worse, depending on on the individual. It's a damn shame that they aren't directing DBZ.... In the words of Stan "the man" Lee, Nuff said. |
