Actually, the tone and intent are not vastly different, and I will document that later. But even if they were vastly different I think it is a bit much to say that the words 'rip-off' can't apply unless the tone and intent are similar. OK, calvin, we will all eagerly await your documentation. Jesus.... I get the sarcasm, but not the 'Jesus'. I take back my promise, which is now null and void. Make of that what you like. I just think that 'The Purple Rose of Cairo' is one of the half-dozen best movies I've seen. 'Last Action Hero' is only a sometimes amusing diversion, totally forgettable. 'Purple Rose' is movie magic. 'Action Hero' is a movie about magic. Big difference. But the idea of a character from each world (movie and real) spending time in the world of the other, was originated, as far as I know, by Woody Allen, and the jokes pertaining to both situations are very similar in both movies. These things can be listed out, but your hostility, and my general lack of enthusiasm at the moment, make me unwilling to say more. Proceed with all of the devastating remarks that you can dream up. Knock yourself out. Reply: So, no documentation? What a disappointment. Here I was expecting footnotes and shit, and what do I get? Another Calvin pity party.
