You can buy external drives, but you would look funny carrying all these things around with you. So who will win out in the end? Digital because more and more people prefer sitting home and just using their computers. I have friends that wanted to go out every weekend to see the new movie at the theater, now they just buy digital movies online. The quality isn't great yet, but it never is early on. Technology is always improving. Look at Comcast, they are coming out with a service that they say will allow you to download an HD movie in 4 minutes. Imagine that. You could hit download, go to the bathroom, or maybe get some food and drinks before it is done downloading. I really liked what David Lynch had to say about watching a film on your computer or on your portable video device or your cell phone...I pretty much agree with it: "Now if you're playing the movie on a telephone or on your computer, you will never in a trillion years experience the film. You'll think you have experienced it, but you'll be cheated. It wil be a weak... you'll be experiencing weakness - an extreme putrefication of a potential experience in another world. So don't let your friends or some television advertisement trick you into accepting weakness. It's such a sadness; power in that world is critical. Everything has been worked on to be a certain way and if you don't have a set-up for your films, it's a joke; it's just the most sickening, horrifying joke. And this world is so troubled, and it's such sadness that you think you've seen a film on your fucking telephone. Get real." Amen Mr. Lynch!
