Then as the years passed and I saw that it was some sort of touchstone for a generation, I kept thinking I ought to go back and look at it again, to see what it was that I'd missed. Finally saw it again a week or so ago. It's amusing and sweet. The "unendingly quotable dialog" may be quotable, but it certainly isn't unending. Or unendingly quotable. The "you killed my father, prepare to die" line is amusing the first few times, but I still can't see why it sticks with anybody. And the only other line I can remember people quoting, "I do not think that word means what you think it means," is also amusing, but way far from the gut-buster one would think it is from the amount it's quoted. It's a nice little movie. From an ex-fencer's point of view, the swordfight's not bad. At least there was some effort to keep the tips pointed in the general direction of the torso. Jim Beaver
