The other ones I could've seen a mile off. My predictions.... BEST MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA THERE WILL BE BLOOD PTA is back. With one of those navel-gazing slow-burning experimental dramas. Gonna take a risk on it. BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA
ANGELINA JOLIE – A MIGHTY HEART Not because she necessrily deserves it, maybe she does I hear she's good in it, but it's an actress in fake-up (white girl playing mixed race) battling melodramatic issues film so she'll win without a blink. BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA GEORGE CLOONEY – MICHAEL CLAYTON I never saw Michael Clayton but the trailer had George Clooney doing that Sean Bean in LOTR thing where at any point you could expect him to turn to the screen and ask "Oscar please?". BEST MOTION PICTURE – COMEDY OR MUSICAL
CHARLIE WILSON’S WAR Come on, Tom Hanks has an Oscar bait movie out, it has to win something. BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE – COMEDY OR MUSICAL
ELLEN PAGE – JUNO More likely Oscar-baiter predicatableness BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE – COMEDY OR MUSICAL
PHILIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN – THE SAVAGES Oscar-baiter for the win. BEST ANIMATED FEATURE FILM RATATOUILLE For Milo. No brainer. BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM
THE KITE-RUNNER No brainer for every foreign language award this year. BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A MOTION PICTURE
CATE BLANCHETT – I’M NOT THERE Cate Blanchet is getting mad-props on all corners for Todd Haynes's wacky Dylan biopic. She seems the obvious choice BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A MOTION PICTURE
CASEY AFFLECK – THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD TAOJJBTCRF has to win at least one award. BEST DIRECTOR – MOTION PICTURE
ETHAN COEN & JOEL COEN – NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN I think the Coens are in for the usual win everything but Best Picture deal BEST SCREENPLAY – MOTION PICTURE
ETHAN COEN & JOEL COEN – NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN See above BEST ORIGINAL SCORE – MOTION PICTURE
DARIO MARIANELLI – ATONEMENT Even if you utterly hate Atonement's period dramatics, Marianelli's score is inspired. BEST ORIGINAL SONG – MOTION PICTURE "GRACE IS GONE" – GRACE IS GONE Much as I'd like to see something as silly as Walk Hard win. I doubt it. I think the Coen's will hit the Globes hard. Hope so anyway. |
