Forum: Film Hobbit | | The actual title to Cloverfield should've been The CW/Days of Our Lives presents A MONSTER MOVIE. First of all, I can't stand it when films now, especially more in the horror genre have pretty people as the leads. Where are all of the non 18 - 26 yr. old people when this shit hits the fan. My second issue with the movie is that it's a romance film, marketed as a monster movie. Don't get me wrong, the monster stuff is great, loved every minute of that. But this movie is mainly romance driven. And that just drives me up the wall. They spend time building up this whole romantic plot, and ends with a romantic plot, with a heavy drive of romance in between. Oh, and there's also a monster running around. But hell, we need to know about this relationship between these two people, don't we?! NO, WE DON'T! The monster is the most interesting part, dammit! Plus, the first act of introducing everyone and their situation is completely needless. Blair Witch did it perfectly in comparison. We don't really need to know who these people are or what they are going through in their lives. Just let the current horrifying situation drive the film. I've said it before, and I'll say it again; JJ ABRAMS. The poor man's STEVEN SPIELBERG. |
