| Last night I watched There Will be Blood in Knoxville. It's a powerful film in many areas, largely due to the stunning Daniel Day Lewis' stunning performance as Daniel Plainview. Paul Dano (Little Miss Sunshine) also shines as his rival in the film. There Will be Blood is a dark, intimate journey into the life of Plainview, though his fierce sense of competition. Directed by P.T. Anderson, this is a film that is unlike his previous work (Boogie Nights, Magnolia, etc.) in many ways, but the themes that he cares deeply about are still there. John Greenwood's score for There Will be Blood is as emotionally unsettling as the characters themselves, and really adds to the mood in the film. The music and certain scenes reminded me of Kubrick's style. 4.5/5 Stars |
