By average movie standards Superman Returns has done pretty well, grossing around $190 million domestically and $150 million internationally. However, given its large budget, massive marketing campaign and the amount of time it took the movie to earn what it has, there's debate over whether or not it actually turned much of a profit. The word out there seems to be that if the movie can make $200 million domestic, there will be a second. Is $195 million close enough? That's up to the execs. Whether Singer does or doesn't get to direct a second movie, you can bet the budget won't be as elaborate as this time around.
