The cost of Singer's movie alone, at least from what I can find, was around $200 million. Batman Begins made $370 million or something worldwide, and so that's a nice profit. Before the film was released I never heard ANYONE say anything of the kind. I've never heard anyone say anything even remotely like that, until after the fact when everyone's trying to label Superman as a dissapointment by pretending these unrealistic expectations existed before the film was released... which they didn't.
