Chart left the project, however, after a decision was made to shoot the film in 3-D, uncomfortable with the possibility it would become more 'theme park ride' than the epic action-adventure film he envisioned. The Jules Verne novel was apparently one of his favorite pieces of literature." (Hollywood... often devious, never subtle...) This Paul Chart fellow hasn't done anything since 1997 and he was thinking he could do a version of Journey to the Center of the Earth that artistic credibility?   Sometimes it's possible to have too much integrity. Hey, now... after all, this classic epic once starred Pat Boone... I should qualify that by saying that in the post-Mummy/post-Pirates Hollywood, no one's going to be making a Journey to the Center of the Earth that shows any level of artistic integrity. And even in the 50s, when it may have been possible to put in a good faith effort (like the Boone movie or the more than a good faith Verne effort, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea), no one would trust the heavy lifting to an independent who hasn't had a credit in over ten years.
