John Williams always gets a score nod because he singlehandedly revitalized film scoring in the mid-70's, just as it appeared that the art would be overrun by pop soundtracks, but for him to get nommed for a sequel, there has to be new musical themes. The HP films are limited by being an adaptation in that regard, since they really can't top themselves like a Bond flick. And being manufactured for the box office limits SAG buzz-- see Titanic. |
