I grew up in the South Bronx and the westerns we saw seemed to reflect perfectly life on the streets. I always wanted to get a cowboy hat and a poncho and have a gun underneath. I remember a friend seeing a punk throwing LP vinyl records off a building roof and almost getting hit by one sailing, frisbee-like, past him and then going up to his apartment and watching one of the Clint Eastwood Italian westerns which was on TV and thinking, "That's what we need--a Man with No Name who'll prowl the streets, taking care of all these punks." |
