The cops showed up too late in every instance, made a few pithy comments and then moved on. I liked Llewellen, too, but look what happened to him. My feelings exactly. I was hoping little miss Carla Jean, with her sweet face and black mourning dress, would pull out the shotgun she keeps beside the door in her bedroom and just blow that fucker Anton away as he sat in the chair flipping his coin. It would have been totally shocking and would have redeemed the whole mess as far as I'm concerned. But no. They've got to continue on with the theme: life's a bitch and then you . . .
