Yes, Transformers had better effects. How you felt about the movie should have nothing to do with how good the effects were. You can't deny the fact that Transformers had amazing effects all the way through. In fact, the animals in the Golden Compass are the weakest effects in the film imo. Like someone else said, they looked no different then Narnia or Harry Potter. Just because it may be harder to render living things than mechanical things, doesnt mean the living things are going to be more realistic or believable. Transformers has the most believable CGI I've seen since Jurassic Park.
