Cormac McCarthy doesn't give a tiddly twat if he gets thanks or not on stage. Him and the Coens get along just fine because they're of the same mindset. They both rarely give interviews, they don't elaborate or wax philosophical about the deep symbolism and the creative process of their work. Its all simplified and just done. People like that do not get all wrapped up in dumb drama and petty discussions like "I didn't get my thanks". They are as un-Hollywood as you can get.... which is probably why people want to and continue to enjoy working with them.
