No Country won, does that one award diminish There Will Be Blood's value? No.
Do you all of a sudden feel that you need to recognize that No Country is a better film? You shouldn't.
Because you prefer There Will Be Blood does that mean that everyone should agree that it was robbed? Not one bit. I get it that it's more enjoyable to spark debate by making outlandish statements, but there is a line. We're supposed to be celebrating cinema here, especially in this thread. For me, two of my favourite films of 2007 were in the running and one of them won. If There Will Be Blood had won instead or PTA over the Coens I would have been equally happy. I just don't get the hate... You guys are taking things over the top. There's no hatred for NCFOM, it's just sad to see that Anderson didn't get any of the three, and now that i think more of it, i really don't understand how they won screenplay and he didn't. That's probably the biggest injustice. I love No Country for Old Men, and obviously i love There Will Be Blood. I'm just saying that time will tell which movie is better and i'm staking it all on the latter. This was all pre-awards so the actual awards have nothing to do with it, i knew that Country was the favorite but i was hoping for some fair surprises. Anyway, these things happen all the time at the Oscars so I'm not surprised, i'm just a little annoyed. The bland and lifeless acceptances from the brothers didn't help either (did they even thank the author when they won screenplay???? I can't really remember now but my friend here tells me they didn't and that McArthy was there! If this is true, that's pretty awful because the film wouldn't have been possible without the book seeing as it's page to page adaptation) |
