Well, I hated Transformers. Mostly because I hate LeBouf, Bay, and it wasn't my kind of movie. I loved Speed Racer though. Being a jaded moviegoer, I was on the fence about watching the movie. Normally, I am just interested in foreigns, indies, Apatow comedies, musicals, and the Dark Knight. But, I decided to see it at our local Digital cinema. It was fantastic. The colors, the child-like quality, the Japan inspiration, the cast, the cars, etc. It was just fun. Like, seeing Hairspray at the cinema. Plus, it was in all of its digital glory. There's just something optimistic about it that the last two Matrixes lacked. It was well-cast with Emile Hirsch as the shining lead, Ricci as the fun girlfriend, Goodman as the greco-roman wrasslin Pops, Fox in a more fun role than Jack on Lost, etc. Acting was on par, the car races were amazing, the angles of shots, etc. They didn't try to Poochy anything up and they remained faithful to its Japanese style. 3/4 of the way through the movie, I felt like a kid again, relea...

Milo... the only place you need to know for box office results is BoxOfficeMojo.com! According to them, Speed Racer made about 20 million, and narrowly beat What Happens for the weekend.

We were all way too generous with Speed Racer. I would feel bad for the Wachowskis if it weren't all their own damn fault.

Today I got a text message from a friend, saying "Speed Racer is the greatest film I have ever seen- better than Iron Man". I distrust this person's opinion, and I realized why- the Transformers movie. Speed Racer has: A flawed male lead who the audience is supposed to identify with so that later on when he pulls out all the stops you're supposed to care. Transformers has: A flawed male lead who the audience is supposed to identify with so that later on when he pulls out all the stops you're supposed to care. Speed Racer has: The hot female sidekick. Transformers has: The hot female sidekick. Speed Racer has: A crapton of CGI. Transformers has: A crapton of CGI. Speed Racer has: A questionable "dark side" to the movie that half the audience thought was genius and the other half were throwing up in the back of their mouths. This looks like complete and utter crap- and I know someone is going to haul out the tired "uncanny valley" argument. That's not it. This is just crap animation. This whole thing looks like it's just a terrible Poser cartoon from the 90s, just like all the Star Wars fan cartoons that were made during that era. In fact, a fairly well-known project called "Tripping the Rift" already did this whole 3d animation based on Star Wars thing, only did it earlier and much better, and it's really sad to see a Lucas production being beaten out by a comedy series that started off mostly as a lampoon of Star Wars in the first place. I just can't believe people can look at this crap and say it looks remotely like a good idea- I know that I suck at 3d animation because I actually tried Poser once upon a time. But even given my complete lack of talent, I could have done a better job on this project given the funding these people probably had. And for everyone's information, no this does NOT look like a vi...

There will be Speed I really do think this film is ahead of it's time , and some people were simply not ready for it , or didn't know what to think of it . The narrative is familiar , but the style is totally unique and fresh . I honestly feel SR got the worst of raps , all people probably kept on reading was how it's only for 10 yo boys , so they cut out girls older people and such right there . It's a damn shame because it's not just for that specific group . The marketing may have not helped either , because that probably further solidified the suspicions people may have had about who this film will appeal to . Yes , it's seems silly to make the proclamation now , that this is one of the best films i have ever seen , but as it is now , there's no doubt it's way up on the list . I honestly felt giddy watching this , like a little kid again , the film is just so damn enjoyable , kid's should def see this , they will love it , i'm 100 percent positive ( again though , it's not just for them , it's for anyone...

I don't normally do autographs, I can't be bothered trying to get them nor do I see much value in them. But I do have two autographs. The second one is Lewis Black on his White comedy album. The first and the only one I thought I'd ever have is "Weird Al" Yankovic on his box set.
